Waiting for the Phone to Ring
I blow out the lightbulb with a breath
My pen leaves its traces on the screen
I sit here and wait for the phone to ring
To answer the wish of my mental voice
I can call spirits from the vasty deep
And they answer, too, smartass
But not one of them is smart enough
To dial a goddam phone
